Fire detection & Suppression system (FDSS)

The few common reasons for fire accidents of Buses & Coaches amongst them
  • Extreme heat
  • Vehicle vibration
  • Material Malfunction
  • Fuel / Hydraulic fluids leakage
  • Electric short circuits
  • Improper / inadequate maintenance
In many bus fire accidents fire originates in either the engine or battery compartment, which are usually out of drivers sight / Passenger sight.
It is therefore difficult for the driver to notice a fire if it occurs. which might result in a slow response time increasing both life loss & damage risk.
To overcome this FDSS system is used to improve safety of passengers & vehicle.

FDSS system consists of

  • Command & control unit
  • Control Pannel
  • Linear heat detector
  • Dry chemical cylinders
  • Discharge hoses
  • Discharge nozzle
  • Blow of cap

  • Control Pannel Surface mounted or flush mounted via external mounting feet.Internally pre wired for connection to other system electrical components via plug connectors.

    Dry Chimical Agent Cylinders
    FDSS in Engine compartment

    FDSS in Battery compartment

    Discharge hoses&nozzle

    Working of FDSS

    • Tubing linear fire detector is routed in Engine/Battery compartment.
    • In case of fire or high temperature fire detector is activated which drive a "Pre Alarm" & "Fire Alarm" directly to the control panel mounted on dash board of the vehicle.
    •  Alerting a driver by visual indicator & by activating the audio buzzer.
    • Even before driver can see the fire allowing both automatic & manual system activation .
In India AIS 135 standard is set for FDSS
Lehavot is one of the leading Bus shield supplier in the world.
